Terms of use
Last updated 16 August 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and BetterSee for the BetterSee website, the iOS and Android apps, and the BetterSee Cloud service. They reflect how the product works today. By creating an account or using BetterSee, you agree to these terms.
Agreement
BetterSee is an ad-free home-camera app for iCSee and Xiongmai households, operated at bettersee.app. If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you invite others to a household, you are responsible for that household’s use of BetterSee.
License to the app
The iOS and Android apps are licensed, not sold. We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use BetterSee on devices you own or control. You may not copy, redistribute, sublicense, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works of the app except as allowed by law or by the licenses of open-source components we include. If you sell or give away a device, remove the app first. On iOS, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the licensed app.
The service
BetterSee lets household members view live video and on-camera recordings, control PTZ where the camera supports it, and receive motion or similar alarms. Local cameras play on your network. Cloud ID cameras pass through BetterSee-operated relay workers (WebRTC, MSE, or HLS). We do not operate a BetterSee cloud DVR. We may change, suspend, or limit parts of the service (including relay capacity) to keep it running.
Accounts and households
You must provide accurate account details and keep your password, passkeys, and two-factor codes to yourself. Cameras belong to a household. Owners manage settings, members, invitations, rooms, and billing. Members can view that household’s cameras. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your country. BetterSee is not directed at children under 13.
Cameras and your content
You provide camera names, credentials, Cloud IDs, and network details. You represent that you have the right to connect those cameras and to view their video. Camera passwords are encrypted at rest and used only to connect. Live video, SD-card recordings, and detections belong to you and the people you share the household with. We cache short stills so the dashboard can open quickly. We do not claim ownership of your video.
Acceptable use
Use BetterSee only for lawful household or other authorized camera viewing. Do not use it to watch people without a legal right to do so, to harass, stalk, or defame anyone, to attack or scan networks you do not own, or to overload the Cloud or relay. Do not share an account in a way that bypasses the plan limits. We may suspend access if we reasonably believe these rules are broken.
Plans, trial, and auto-renewal
New owners get a 14-day trial with full access to their first owned household. After that, access requires an active plan, or complimentary access we grant. BetterSee Standard is an auto-renewing one-year subscription for one owned household (list price $19.90 / year; Brazilian App Store R$99,90). BetterSee Premium is an auto-renewing one-year subscription for unlimited owned households (list price $39.90 / year; Brazilian App Store R$199,90). Payment is charged to your App Store, Google Play, or Stripe account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew each year unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your store or Stripe account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. Unused trial time is forfeited when you buy a paid plan. You can manage or cancel App Store subscriptions in your Apple ID settings, Google Play subscriptions in Play, and web subscriptions in the Stripe Customer Portal. We do not offer a cheaper web price inside the iOS or Android apps.
App Store, Google Play, and Stripe
In the iOS and Android apps, purchases go only through the App Store or Google Play. On the website, purchases go through Stripe. An owner can use one paid channel at a time. Store refunds and billing disputes are handled by Apple or Google under their rules. Web refunds, if any, are handled through Stripe and our support email. Restoring purchases on a device asks the store for existing receipts and sends them to BetterSee Cloud so we can unlock access.
Availability and external services
Video depends on your cameras, network, power, and — for Cloud ID — our relay workers. We do not promise uninterrupted access, and BetterSee is not a life-safety or professional monitoring service. The app may open third-party sites or store billing screens. Those services have their own terms.
No warranty
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BetterSee is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that live video, recordings, alarms, or relay sessions will be accurate, complete, or available at any particular time.
Limitation of liability
To the extent not prohibited by law, BetterSee is not liable for personal injury, lost profits, lost data, business interruption, or any indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service — including missed events if a camera or stream is unavailable. Some countries do not allow these limits; in that case they apply only as far as the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable consumer law.
Termination
You can stop using BetterSee and delete your account in Settings. We may suspend or end access if you break these terms, if a payment fails and is not restored, or if we discontinue the service. After termination, cached stills and account data are removed as described in the Privacy policy. Deleting a household does not cancel the owner’s paid plan.
Changes
If we change these terms, we will update this page and the date above. Material changes will be posted here before they take effect. Continued use after that date means you accept the updated terms.
